The Ukrainian government pledged on Sunday to leave its airspace open, despite the threat of a Russian invasion, announced the Ministry of Infrastructure, according to AFP.

The Ministry said in a statement published on its Facebook page, “The airspace over Ukraine will remain open, while authorities are working to ward off risks for airlines, stressing that “the closure of the airspace is Ukraine’s sovereign right, and no decision has been made in this regard.”

In recent days, many countries urged their citizens to leave Ukraine in order to protect themselves, including the US, the UK, Belgium, Canada, and Saudi Arabia.

As of Saturday, the Moroccan Embassy in Ukraine urged its nationals in Ukraine to leave the country, for their own safety, through available commercial flights.

The Moroccan Embassy also asked Moroccans to avoid visiting the country, in light of growing tensions between both neighboring countries.

Since mid-2021, Russia began massing military presence near the border with Ukraine, representing the highest since the Crimea annexation in 2014.
