Moroccan private schools representatives signed agreements with the Mohammed VI Foundation to access the institution’s social benefits.
Morocco’s Minister of National Education Chakib Benmoussa, the President of Mohammed VI Foundation, Youssef Bakkali, and representatives of private schools signed 5 agreements on February 4.
Reviewing major projects aimed at overseeing and allowing private schools to operate, Benmoussa said that parents and schools’ interactions “must be based on principles of transparency in accordance with their responsibilities within the public education system.”
As well as providing good working conditions, career advancement, and stability, the minister emphasized the importance of ensuring good quality education in private schools.
Bakkali noted that “more than a million [of Moroccan] students study in the private sector, which is almost 18% of children attending school at the national level.” He noted that integrating private sector teachers and executives into the Mohammed VI Foundation is a “natural move.”
Kamal Daissaoui, the President of the Federation of Private Education in Morocco (FEP/CGEM), hailed this achievement as a “historic initiative.”
