Rescue efforts to save Rayan are imminent. With 4 meters of digging left to reach the five-year-old boy trapped down a 32-metre, rescuers are optimistic they will bring him up alive.
Hespress journalists present on the ground said that the five bulldozers deployed to dig a hole parallel to the well were able to dig 30 meters by today morning.
They told Hespress EN that topographers have now stepped in to lead rescue efforts and locate the exact spot where Rayan is.
“We know he is alive – he shows signs of life. He moves his hands and legs,” Hespress journalist Abdesalam Chamekh told Hespress EN.
Once his location is identified, experts will use a pick and shovel to reach the boy, whose story made national international headlines since he fell in the well in the northern village of Ighran in Chefchaouen province.
Rescuers have managed to get down oxygen and water to him and continue to monitor his state with a phone camera.
“I was shocked when they told me that he’s in the well, I’m still in shock, but I’m still hoping he’d get out alive, I pray to Allah to get him out alive,” Rayan’ mother told Hespress, with signs of distress visible on her face.
Rayan, was out in the vicinity of his home when he fell down the hole at 2 pm on Tuesday. His family heard his cries and alerted neighbors and authorities who have since gathered near the hole to help with rescue efforts.
Hashtag #SaveRyan is all over the internet in a great outpouring of solidarity with all the people on-site, and especially his family, loved ones, and the teams that were deployed to save this little boy.
Every American is praying for Rayan and the rescuers.
