The Ministry of Economy and Finance released official figures showing that the rainfall deficit in Morocco reached 59.8% on January 10th.
According to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts of the Ministry in its situational note for January, this rainfall deficit is estimated relative to the previous agricultural season, 2020-2021.
Due to the high price of fodder materials, the current agricultural season has been hampered since the rains have been significantly delayed, which will affect the national production of grain and livestock breeders.
A circumstantial note indicates that citrus production will increase by 14% this season, while olive production will increase by 21%.
The chain will be able to increase production by 15-20%, which will enable it to exceed the 160 thousand tons goal included in the program contract for 2010-2020.
The agricultural sector had an export turnover of about MAD 27.7 billion at the end of November, an increase of 8.9%.
The Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts reports that the economy is experiencing a significant and gradual recovery.
As a result of state-supported measures since the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as good agricultural results last year, the recovery is progressing well.
Recovery has been observed in all sectors, except tourism and air transport, which are still negatively affected, as elsewhere in the world, which led the government to develop a strategic plan worth MAD 2 billion.
