Government delays reopening borders to February 7
Thursday 27 January 2022 - 23:01

The government on Thursday night announced a decision to reopen Morocco’s borders on February 7 based on recommendations of the country’s anti-Covid-19 committee.

The government said in a statement it put in place a technical committee to decide on measures to impose at border posts.

Authorities said on December 24 the extension of suspended commercial flights to and from Morocco will continue until January 31.

Morocco’s scientific committee on Covid-19 recommended reopening Morocco’s air borders “as soon as possible.”

The committee cited the economic consequences resulting from the prolonged closure, and stable indicators on the spread of Omicron.

A host of airlines scrambles to cancel flights and refund customers following Morocco’s decision to halt flights on November 29 over Omicron concerns and rapid spread of Delta in Europe.
