Morocco’s Scientific Committee on Covid-19 gave recommendations to reopen Morocco’s borders to an inter-ministerial committee in charge of making decisions related to pandemic control.
The Scientific Committee said the reopening of borders within the two weeks initially set to slow down the appearance of Omicron in the country is “very possible,” according to sources who spoke to Hespress.
The committee said the spread of the new coronavirus variant is only taking pace in southern African countries.
The interministerial committee should issue a decision on the reopening of borders within the upcoming days.
A host of airlines scrambles last week to cancel flights and refund customers following Morocco’s decision to halt flights on November 29 over Omicron concerns and rapid spread of Delta in Europe.
The countries continue to record low levels of infections, with the reproduction rate at around 1.04, showing that the epidemic curve persists in a phase of decreasing plateau, according to the Health ministry.
