The deadline for the COVID-19 vaccine booster dose will be reduced in France, starting February 15, to a maximum of four months instead of seven in order to keep a valid health pass, Health Minister Olivier Véran announced.
The current rule is that from January 15, the health pass becomes inactive after seven months in the absence of a booster dose.
“From February 15, it will be necessary to carry out four months and no longer seven after its second dose to have a complete vaccination scheme,” said Olivier Véran in an interview with the weekly newspaper Le Journal de Dimanche.
He recalled that “an infection will always be equivalent to an injection.” This means that a person who has had two doses, has not yet received a booster shot, but has recently been contaminated by the virus, meets the conditions set.
France has been hit hard by a 5th wave of the Covid-19 epidemic, marked by a surge of cases of the Omicron variant. The country is recording record after record of contaminations due to the Omicron “tidal wave”, with more than 200,000 new cases recorded in the last few days.
