Morocco suspended its maritime links with France, amid a fifth wave of Covid-19 that is raging in France.
The Kingdom decided to suspend all maritime lines with its French counterpart, starting Sunday, November 28 at 11:59 p.m.
The decision will run until further notice “to preserve Morocco’s achievements in terms of management of the Covid-19 pandemic and to deal with the deterioration of the health situation in some European countries, ” according to an inter-ministerial committee on Covid-19.
Moroccan authorities had already announced earlier this week that passenger flights to and from France will be suspended starting today.
The decision will impact more than 1.3 million people from Morocco who live in France and nearly 80,000 French nationals live in the North African country.
Morocco has already suspended flights with the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany in the past month.
The French government has introduced a set of new measures to fight against the fifth wave, including making masks mandatory and making all adults eligible for booster shots.
