China is facing yet another outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic with record cases since the 2019 emergence of the virus in Wuhan.
COVID-19 infections are increasing in China, with 83 new infections reported on average each day, representing 2% of the peak, according to the latest update of November 8.
Hundreds of locally transmitted infections have been found in two-thirds of China’s provinces, as more parts of the country grapple with the most COVID-19 outbreaks.
China has administered at least 2,330,726,000 doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines so far, assuming each person needs 2 shots to have vaccinated about 83.4% of the country’s population.
Even that the country has a high rate of vaccination, it was adopting a Zero-tolerance approach in order to curb effectively the spread of the virus nationwide.
China has developed as well its COVID-19 measures to stop local cases from surging, including mass testing, targeted lockdowns, and travel restrictions.
“Zero tolerance costs a lot indeed but letting the virus spread costs more,” Respiratory disease expert Zhong told Chinese media.
