Minister of health Khaled Ait Taleb said, while answering parliamentary groups’ questions on Monday that “Our country is experiencing a remarkable and continuous improvement in many indicators related to the pandemic for the tenth week in a row; Last week, Morocco moved to the low level of Covid-19 transmission.”

“After four consecutive weeks of moderate viral transmission (orange risk level), the rate of Covid-19 infections recorded during the last week is at 3.5 percent,” the minister added.

The minister noted that this rate is the lowest in 16 weeks.

On the other hand, Ait Taleb reported that with 6 deaths, the fatality rate has also decreased to 1.5 percent. As a result, the recovery rate rose to 97.9 percent, as 218 patients recovered compared to 201 new cases.

The minister warns however that “Morocco is not immune to another epidemiological setback,” stressing the need to take more precautions to prevent another outbreak.

Accordingly, the minister called on all citizens to flock to vaccination centers, in hopes of reaching mass immunization.
