As Moroccan schools reopened their doors, a number of educational coordination announced protest programs to demand government action on issues, teachers see as unresolved.
The “National Coordination of Teachers Forced to Contract” announced a program of protests, starting from this month, October, and continuing until November.
The coordination criticized in a statement, “the attack on the school and public office with “the subversive schemes and projects,” executed by the ministry amid the state of health emergency.
The Coordination, also, condemned “making this emergency state a justification for killing freedom of expression and the right to protest, as the state intervened with its repressive devices to deter many forms of protest, including arresting dozens of professors and the editing of fabricated records against them.”
The back to school season will, apparently, witnesses “protests and tensions” due to the accumulation of a number of unresolved files and “the interruption of dialogue throughout the previous government term.”
Abdelilah Dahman, Secretary General of the National University of Education Employees, said that the announcement of “a series of protests is not surprising,” expecting that more protest forms will be organized in the upcoming days.
Dahman added, in a statement to Hespress, that the tension is mainly due to the failure of the dialogue between the teachers and the past government, in addition to the delays occurred because of the pandemic.
The Secretary General of the National University of Education Staff considered in the same statement that the current season will be “a season of protests and tension, as escalation will occur in the coming weeks.”
For its part, the “Regional Coordination of Trained Administrative educational workers Rabat-Salé-Kenitra” announced the organization of a protest tomorrow, Tuesday, due to what it called “the rejection of the policy of procrastination pursued by the Regional Center for Professions of Education and Training Rabat-Al-IRFAN, and the Regional Academy, in dealing with their case.”
The same coordination said, in a statement, that it “rejects the ministry’s indifference to the file of the trained administrative educational workers, and refuses the exploitation of the trained administrative educational workers in the process of solving the shortage [of administrative educational workers] issue.”
The “Regional Coordination of Trained Administrative educational workers in Rabat – Sale – Kenitra” demands the issuance of the new form of the decree regulating training on the conduct of educational administration and the training calendar for the second year.
Dahman highlighted the importance of dialogue, saying that it is a “platform for consultation and listening to reduce tensions,” stressing that, to date, “there is no approach to settling these files.”
