Business leaders are expecting an increase in the construction sector for the third quarter of 2021, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
This increase in the construction sector would be accompanied by the stability of the workforce, according to the same source.
For the third quarter of 2021, business leaders are expecting an increase in activity for the “building construction” and “Civil engineering” sectors, whereas, “Specialized construction works” are expected to decrease in terms of activity.
The energy production is expected to increase as well for the 3rd quarter of 2021 in terms of the “Production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning”. However, in terms of employment, it would decrease.
For the same quarter, companies in the environmental industry anticipate an increase in production, particularly in “Water collection, treatment and distribution” activities and a stable workforce.
In the second quarter of 2021, the production of the manufacturing industry increased as a result of an increase in production in the “Food industries”, “Automotive industry” and “Chemical industry” sectors. However, it decreased in terms of production in the “Manufacture of electrical equipment” and “Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products” sectors.
Overall, the production capacity utilization rate (TUC) in the manufacturing industry is estimated to be 77%.
The output of the energy industry increased mainly due to an increase in “Production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning”. However, employment, meanwhile, has reportedly declined.
The production of the environmental industry also recorded an increase in the activity of “Water collection, treatment, and distribution”.
Recently, the High Commission for Planning stated its production index of manufacturing industries, excluding petroleum refining, increasing by 19.9% in the second quarter of 2021 compared to the same period of 2020.
The production index’s results showed an increase of the automobile industry by 85.3%, an increase in metallurgy by 98.3% as well as the manufacture of machinery and equipment by 83.0%, and other non-metallic mineral products by 38.5%.
