The Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation announced on Tuesday that the 19th edition of the festival will be postponed “given the current global health situation.”
However, the festival will continue to “pursue its support of the cinema of the African continent and the Arab world” by moving the Atlas Workshops online from November 22 to 25, according to a press release by the foundation.
The Atlas Workshops, launched in 2018, aim to support the new generation of Moroccan, Arab and African filmmakers by providing them with consultation, as well as exposing them to the international market.
In 2021, two winners of the Atlas Prize for Post Production were selected for competition at the Semane de la Critique at Cannes, the foundation said.
With the Atlas Workshops beginning in November 22, the Marrakech Film Festival “continues to develop and enhance its architecture for the discovery of new talents from the African continent and the Arab world,” the press release concluded.
