Small and Medium-sized businesses are betting on the new government to overcome the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has greatly damaged the national economy, especially the entrepreneurship sector.
In the past year, the national economy witnessed an unprecedented decline due to the COVID-19 crisis, which led to many workers losing their jobs and a number of medium and small businesses going bankrupt.
According to the High Commission for Planning (HCP), the companies that suspended their activity temporarily or permanently due to the pandemic amounted to 72% of very small businesses, 26% of small and medium businesses, and 2% of large businesses.
Small and Medium-sized companies are expecting a lot of effort from the new government.
“Expectations remain many and great because the pandemic damaged the national economy and weakened medium and small enterprises,” Ahmed Afilal, head of the General Federation of enterprises and Professions told Hespress.
The expert considered that the last government did not provide support to several sectors that were affected by the pandemic, he added“We hope that the next government will avoid the mistakes of the outgoing government that did not bet on small and very small enterprises, which represent about 90 percent of the national entrepreneurial fabric’.
The expected government will have to restore confidence in economic actors while supporting companies to contribute to economic recovery by providing support mechanisms.
