Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed and Head of the Libyan interim government Abdel Hamid Dbeibah agreed to resume land and air traffic as quickly as possible between the two countries.
The two parties agreed to strengthen bilateral coordination in terms of health and interior matters, as well as establish a common protocol to resume land and air traffic as quickly as possible between the two neighboring states, the Tunisian presidency said in a statement.
Libya closed its border with Tunisia earlier in July as Covid-19 infections were rising due to the Delta variant.
While Tunisia fared well during the first Covid-19 outbreak, the North African country faced a Delta-driven rise in both infections and deaths, with the country recording over 100 deaths daily.
