As Morocco’s general elections approach, the ministry of the interior began holding meetings with officials in charge of the electoral campaigns of political parties in order to brief them on the procedures to be followed during campaigns, to avoid further spreading the Coronavirus.
The measures include a limit of 25 people during public gatherings in both closed and open spaces, banning rallies and banquets in open spaces, preventing the set-up of tents in public spaces, and a limit of 10 people during field tours.
The ministry also added a limitation of 5 cars per convoy, with the need to notify local authorities of the timing and route of tours and convoys.
The distribution of pamphlets on the streets and in voters’ homes was also banned, as the ministry urged parties to place pamphlets where they can easily be seen instead.
