As Morocco continues to battle the latest wave of Covid-19 infections in the country, health experts expect the epidemiological situation to improve by mid-September.
Member of the COVID-19 scientific committee Azeddine Ibrahimi said on Facebook that “we might say that we are experiencing the peak of this wave,” stressing that the current increase in the number of cases in the country is mainly due to the spread of the Delta variant.
The Delta variant will have widely spread in Morocco by mid-September, Ibrahimi preditcs, and as the country approaches the 50% milestone of vaccinated citizens, “We will see, God willing, an improvement in the epidemiological situation.”
Morocco is relying on its vaccination campaign to reduce the spread of the Delta variant. The kingdom recently began inoculating teenagers aged 12 to 17 in a bid to curb the rise in infections.
“The goal of vaccinating this age group in all countries of the world is to break the chain of Delta outbreaks, especially with schools reopening,” Ibrahimi affirmed.
The Ministry of National Education and health experts urged young students to take their vaccine jabs so that the school season would be successful.
