A lawsuit of sexual abuse against American legendary singer Bob Dylan was filed on Friday, at the Manhattan Supreme Court.
At his Chelsea Hotel flat, then 24-year-old Dylan allegedly sexually abused a 12-year-old girl who identified herself in court as J.C, claiming she was “a victim of one or more criminal sex acts.”
The abuse allegedly lasted for a period of six weeks between April and May of 1965, with Dylan exploiting his status as a musician to satisfy his desires.
Allegations made toward the singer in the lawsuit state the following: “Between April and May of 1965, the defendant, Dylan, exploited his status as a musician by grooming J.C. to gain her trust and to obtain control over her as part of his plan to sexually molest and abuse J.C.”
Dylan, who is now 80 years old, is also accused of physical threats.
The sexual abuse victim has been enduring “physical and psychological injuries, including but not limited to, severe emotional and psychological distress, humiliation, fright, disassociation, anger, depression, anxiety, personal turmoil and loss of faith, a severe shock to her nervous system, physical pain and mental anguish, and emotional and psychological damage” as claimed by the lawsuit.
Responding to the allegations, a spokesperson of Bob Dylan’s said “the 56-year-old’s claim is untrue and will be vigorously defended.”
The victim followed the allegation procedure until the lawsuit was filed a day before the window for filing claims under New York State’s Child Victims Act that allowed victims of abuse to sue their alleged attackers closed.
