Morocco’s natural gas production rose 25% in the first half of 2026, driven by two newly operational wells in Gharb and Essaouira, according to the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM).
Production increased 40% in Gharb and 23% in Essaouira following the commissioning of the SAH-1 and MKL-110 wells. Condensate output more than doubled, rising 103%.
Gas deliveries to industrial customers in Kenitra increased 67%, while supplies to phosphate producer OCP in Youssoufia rose 24%.
ONHYM’s share of gas deliveries reached 13.03 million standard cubic meters, up 26%. Morocco also imported approximately 338.46 million cubic meters through the Maghreb-Europe pipeline during the six-month period.
Separately, ONHYM’s 2025 exploration report identified eight potential oil prospects, including five in the Tadla basin and three in Missour, following seismic surveys and geological assessments.
