Morocco will begin the Islamic month of Jumada al-Awwal on Tuesday, October 13, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced Sunday.
The ministry said it had observed the crescent moon marking the start of Jumada al-Awwal on the evening of Sunday, October 11, corresponding to 29 Rabi’ al-Thani 1448 AH, but confirmed that the moon had not been sighted.
The ministry said it had contacted its representatives across the country, as well as units of the Royal Armed Forces involved in crescent moon observations, all of whom confirmed that the sighting had not been established.
As a result, Rabi’ al-Thani will complete 30 days, with Jumada al-Awwal beginning on Tuesday, October 13.
In its statement, the ministry extended its wishes for prosperity and blessings during the new month to King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, the royal family, the Moroccan people and the wider Muslim community.
