Wydad Casablanca’s Winners 2005 supporters group criticized authorities for preventing the club’s fans from traveling to El Jadida to attend Saturday’s league match against Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi.
In a statement issued after the match, the group said its members were stopped on their way to El Jadida and were unable to reach El Abdi Stadium to support Wydad. The group said it decided to turn back to ensure members’ safety and avoid potential clashes.
Winners 2005 said restrictions on supporters’ travel run counter to the principle of freedom of movement and called on authorities to find ways to allow fans to attend matches rather than preventing them from traveling.
The group said managing away-fan travel would be an increasingly important challenge as Morocco prepares to host major sporting events.
Winners 2005 said its motivation for traveling to matches was to support Wydad, describing its commitment as rooted in what it called “Wydadism.”
The group welcomed Wydad’s three points against El Jadidi, while criticizing the team’s overall performance. It said the victory came at a sensitive time for the club, amid possible changes to its technical staff or presidency and with no transfer window scheduled in October.
The supporters’ group also praised the players for responding to fans’ frustration and called on them to work harder and deliver better results in upcoming matches.
Winners 2005 further warned against what it described as attempts to divide the club, alleging that anonymous accounts and online campaigns were targeting the president, coach, players and the supporters’ group.
It called on Wydad fans to set aside their differences and rally behind the club, saying unity among its different components was a source of strength.
