Morocco is expected to see relatively hot weather and thunderstorms across several regions Friday and into the weekend, according to the country’s General Directorate of Meteorology.

Temperatures will remain relatively high in inland areas of Gharb, the Tadla and Rhamna plains, as well as inland parts of Souss and the southern provinces, where hot weather is also expected.

Hussein Youabed, communications official at the meteorological directorate, said thunderstorms are expected in the High and Middle Atlas mountains and nearby western areas. Rain showers and thunderstorms are also forecast in the Rif, the eastern region and areas around the western Mediterranean.

Low clouds accompanied by fog or drizzle could develop in the morning and at night along the western Mediterranean coast, the central coast and northwestern parts of the southern provinces.

Tangier and the southern provinces are expected to experience moderate to relatively strong winds, which could locally stir up dust. Temperatures are forecast to rise in Souss, the southern provinces, Gharb and Chaouia, while declining in other parts of the country.

Unsettled weather is expected to continue Saturday, with thunderstorms forecast in the Rif, the eastern Mediterranean, the eastern region, Saiss and the High and Middle Atlas mountains and their eastern foothills.

Showers and thunderstorms could also affect the plains west of the Atlas mountains and the far south of the southern provinces.

Relatively hot weather will persist in inland Gharb, the Tadla and Rhamna plains and the Moulouya Valley. Inland Souss and the southern provinces will see relatively hot to locally hot conditions.

Low clouds accompanied by drizzle or fog are also expected along the Atlantic coasts and plains and the western Mediterranean.

From Sunday through the middle of next week, relatively hot to locally hot weather is expected to continue through Tuesday, particularly in the southeast, the southern provinces, inland plains and Souss.

Unsettled conditions are also expected to persist, with rain or thunderstorms possible in the Atlas mountains and surrounding areas, the Rif, the eastern region and the southern provinces.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly through Tuesday before declining afterward.

Youabed cautioned that weather conditions, particularly during thunderstorms, remain subject to change. He urged residents to regularly follow official weather bulletins and alert levels and to check the latest updates before traveling or carrying out outdoor activities, especially in areas affected by thunderstorms and strong winds.
