In accordance with the High Royal Instructions, Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of the National Defense Administration, received Thursday in Rabat a delegation from the US Congress led by Brian Mast, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives, on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
During the meeting, the two officials welcomed the excellence of the centuries-old ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America, as well as the high level of cooperation achieved in the military field, reaffirming their commitment to consolidating mutually beneficial relations and strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The two officials also reviewed the state of defense cooperation, notably marked by the regular holding of the Defense Consultative Committee, frequent exchanges of visits by senior officials, and the joint organization of the annual large-scale “African Lion” exercise, which today represents a major driver of success, contributing to the interoperability of the armed forces of participating countries, particularly African countries, the National Defense Administration said in a statement.
During the meeting, Loudyi welcomed the frank and positive support of the United States of America for the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire territory and the Moroccan character of the Sahara, as well as the constructive US efforts undertaken in this regard to definitively settle this dispute.
He also highlighted the various South-South cooperation and regional integration initiatives launched under the leadership and enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify Him, making the Kingdom of Morocco a dynamic actor in stability and shared prosperity for the benefit of the African continent.
For its part, the US congressional delegation praised the Leadership of His Majesty the King, positioning the Kingdom of Morocco as an important actor in stability and peace in the face of the various challenges and issues shaping regional security.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides expressed their ambition and shared determination to further consolidate this strategic partnership and strengthen their exemplary cooperation relations, particularly in the defense industry, cybersecurity and the space sector, the statement concluded.
