Moroccan exploration company Red Rock Mining plans to invest 200 million dirhams over five years in the western Anti-Atlas, following preliminary drilling results pointing to copper and other metals at its Akka and Adrar Oumlal projects.
The company said the funding would support geological, geophysical and geochemical surveys, alongside expanded drilling to establish the extent of mineralization and prepare initial resource estimates under international standards.
Early drilling at Akka confirmed the continuity of several copper-bearing structures, according to the company. Those findings support further exploration, although the size and economic viability of any eventual deposits remain to be established.
At Adrar Oumlal, exploration identified copper potential alongside indications of gold, silver, lead and zinc mineralization. The results have helped the company identify additional targets for future drilling campaigns.
Red Rock Mining holds 25 mining licenses across the two project areas. It aims to use that portfolio to help develop a new Moroccan mining hub focused on strategic minerals.
The immediate priority is to refine the geological picture and assess resources. Subsequent exploration will determine whether the projects can advance toward development and whether the mineral occurrences can support commercially viable operations.
The company also outlined longer-term ambitions to create jobs, train Moroccan mining professionals and use local contractors and service providers where possible. Those potential benefits would depend on how exploration and project development progress.
Alongside its work in the western Anti-Atlas, Red Rock Mining has established Idelsane Mining SA, a subsidiary in the Ouarzazate area tasked with managing and developing mining projects and mineral deposits.
The subsidiary broadens the company’s presence in southern Morocco. Together with the planned exploration spending, it signals an expansion strategy whose eventual scale will depend on resource assessments and the economic feasibility of the targeted deposits, rather than preliminary indications of mineralization alone.
