A Ryanair flight from Edinburgh to Marrakesh diverted to Birmingham on Sunday after a passenger suffered a medical emergency less than an hour into the journey.
Flight RK514 departed Edinburgh at 7:22 a.m. and landed at Birmingham Airport at 8:15 a.m., 53 minutes later.
Paramedics met the aircraft on arrival, and the passenger was taken off the plane for further treatment. Their condition was not immediately known.
Flight tracking data showed the Boeing 737-8AS had passed England’s south coast and was heading over the English Channel when it turned back toward the mainland.
The aircraft then headed to Birmingham instead of continuing south toward Morocco.
The information available did not specify the nature of the medical emergency or whether the passenger was taken to hospital.
