Morocco’s Socialist Union of Popular Forces has promised a 15% wage increase, a 25% rise in minimum pensions and the gradual consolidation of the country’s pension systems as part of its election platform.

Ali Ghanbouri, a member of the USFP political bureau, presented the measures Sunday at a national gathering of the party’s trade union officials, saying workers were central to its program.

The presentation also referred separately to a proposed 20% increase in average wages, without explaining how that target differs from the promised 15% raise or which workers would qualify under each measure.

To extend wage increases to private-sector employees, the USFP proposes making government support for companies conditional on job creation, decent working conditions and respect for labor and union rights.

The party would also introduce a sliding wage scale allowing periodic pay adjustments based on inflation and economic conditions. It promised legislation institutionalizing social dialogue and an updated legal framework for determining union representation.

On pensions, the USFP proposes reducing disparities between retirement benefits by 30%, raising the minimum pension by 25% and progressively unifying pension funds. Ghanbouri said workers should not bear the cost of reform alone.

Other measures include extending social protection to informal workers, strengthening unemployment insurance and providing free social coverage to retirees regardless of their status.

For low- and middle-income workers, the party pledged to reduce the tax burden on wages by 10% and gradually raise the income tax exemption threshold from 40,000 to 50,000 dirhams. It also proposed a wealth tax excluding productive assets.

The health commitments include cutting hospital waiting times by half and introducing a smart payment card based on third-party billing. In housing, the party promised support for 250,000 middle-class home purchases over five years
