Morocco ranked 19th among 25 leading outsourcing destinations assessed for their readiness to capitalize on artificial intelligence, according to the 2026 Global Outsourcing AI Readiness Index published by Ataraxis Management.

The Kingdom received an overall score of 43.35 out of 100, placing fifth among the eight African countries included in the index.

South Africa led the continent with 66.5 points, followed by Egypt with 49.35, Nigeria with 49.15 and Kenya with 47.6. Ghana ranked immediately behind Morocco with 42.25 points.

Morocco and Egypt were the only Middle East and North Africa destinations assessed. Egypt placed 16th globally, three positions ahead of Morocco and six points higher in the overall score.

Morocco received 48 points for population-level AI adoption, 41 for workforce AI literacy, 39 for enterprise AI adoption and 46 for its AI education pipeline. The results suggest that the country performs relatively better in public adoption and education, while the integration of AI into business operations remains its weakest area.

Ataraxis calculates the ranking using four weighted indicators: population AI adoption and workforce AI literacy, each accounting for 30% of the score; enterprise adoption, weighted at 25%; and the education pipeline, representing the remaining 15%.

India topped the ranking with 84.55 points, followed by Brazil and Malaysia.

Ataraxis cautions that the scores are relative to the selected group of 25 established outsourcing destinations. The index therefore measures preparedness for AI-enabled outsourced work rather than providing a comprehensive assessment of countries’ overall technological development or national AI capacity.
