Moroccan international defender Nayef Aguerd could be on his way out of Olympique de Marseille just one year after joining the French club.
French media reports, including La Provence, indicate that Marseille management is open to letting the Atlas Lion leave. Aguerd joined the club last summer from Premier League side West Ham in a deal worth around €23 million, but Marseille are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Aguerd.
Several teams from the Gulf region are currently tracking his situation ahead of a potential summer move.
His debut season in Marseille was heavily disrupted by a groin injury. The injury limited his playing time and made it difficult for him to establish himself as a regular starter.
Aguerd’s contract with OM runs until June 2030, but it reportedly includes a clause allowing him to leave for an offer of around €15 million. This price tag could facilitate smooth negotiations if interested clubs come forward with an acceptable proposal.
While selling the defender at that price would mean a financial loss compared to last year’s transfer fee, Marseille could benefit from recuperating funds and freeing up space on their wage bill.
For the 30-year-old center-back, a summer transfer could offer a fresh start to secure consistent playing time after a frustrating season.
