Moroccan coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has won more than €612,000 in compensation from Congolese club AS Vita Club after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that his contract had been terminated without just cause.
The tribunal found Ouaddou’s appeal admissible and concluded that Vita Club unilaterally ended his contract on January 11, 2024 without a valid legal basis.
The Kinshasa club was ordered to pay €157,000 in unpaid salaries and bonuses, €1,977.30 for travel expenses and €453,250 in compensation for wrongful termination, bringing the total award to €612,227.30.
Ouaddou lodged the case on November 18, 2024, after leaving the club following a brief tenure.
After informing the tribunal on June 9 that no progress had been made toward payment, Ouaddou secured a further decision on July 23 ordering Vita Club to contribute 3,000 Swiss francs toward his legal costs.
The club was also ordered to bear two-thirds of the arbitration costs, with the final amount to be determined separately.
Vita Club could face disciplinary or enforcement measures if it fails to comply with the award.
