The number of visitors received at Morocco’s border crossings approached 9.4 million people by the end of June 2026, an increase of 6% year-on-year, according to the Directorate of Financial Studies and Forecasts (DEPF).

This performance reflects an increase in arrivals from the French (+9%), German (+14%), Belgian (+9%), Dutch (+10%), Italian (+6%), Polish (+32%), British (+4%), and American (+9%) markets, the DEPF notes in its a recent brief.

The brief indicates that the tourism sector began this year with a value-added performance of +8.1% in Q1-2026, following a consolidation of 8.7% a year earlier. The main indicators of the tourism sector point to a continuation of the favorable trend in the sector’s activity over the coming months.

Regarding overnight stays in classified accommodation establishments, they increased by 9% by the end of last May, following a 12.4% rise a year earlier.

This growth is driven by the performances recorded notably by the destinations of Marrakech (+10%), Agadir (+13%), Casablanca (+12%), Ouarzazate (+24%), Rabat (+18%), Tangier (+8%), Fez (+7%), Essaouira (+6%), Errachidia (+8%), and Al Haouz (+4%).

Travel receipts, meanwhile, stood at nearly 53.8 billion dirhams, an improvement of 14.6% compared to the end of May 2025.
