Spanish police recordings have revealed an alleged attempt by a suspected drug-trafficking network to fabricate a confession in the Ceuta tunnel case and shield the people behind a warehouse used to smuggle hashish from Morocco.
According to reports by Ceuta media citing UDYCO files, the alleged ringleader, identified as M.Ch.B. and currently in pre-trial detention, tried to prepare a false statement for the person linked to a marble workshop that hid one of the tunnels.
The recordings suggest the network wanted the man to present a pre-arranged version to authorities, claiming the tunnel was old and that he had only covered it.
Investigators also recorded an alleged plan to obtain the passport of a recently deceased person and use it, along with a false rental contract, to assign responsibility for the warehouse to another identity.
The plan failed after Spanish police uncovered a second tunnel and arrested around 30 suspects.
