Morocco’s meteorological agency issued an orange-level alert warning of a heatwave, thunderstorms, hail and strong winds across several provinces from Wednesday to Saturday.

The General Directorate of Meteorology said temperatures of 41 to 44 degrees Celsius are expected in Errachidia, Zagora, Tata, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Boujdour, Aousserd and Oued Ed-Dahab during the alert period.

The agency also forecast thunderstorms with rainfall of 20 to 25 millimeters, strong wind gusts and possible hail on Wednesday between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. in Boulemane, Jerada, Figuig and Midelt.

Separate strong wind gusts of 75 to 80 kilometers per hour are expected Thursday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. in Tanger-Assilah and Fahs-Anjra.

The DGM’s vigilance platform confirms the orange-alert system for potentially dangerous weather conditions, including heatwaves, thunderstorms, heavy rain and violent winds.
