Morocco has become Quebec travelers’ top destination this summer, according to The Travel, citing new data from flight booking platform FlightHub tracking round-trip international departures from Montreal.

The source revealed that Morocco now represents 12% of all international bookings from Quebec, overtaking the United States as the top destination, but now around 70% of Canadian travelers continue to avoid US travel.

France comes third with 6%, followed by Portugal and Tunisia at 5% each.

“This data shows Quebec travelers are increasingly viewing North Africa as a viable holiday destination, with Morocco and Tunisia gaining significant traction this summer,” said FlightHub’s Director of Brand Marketing and Communication, Ayoub Hissar, as reported by The Travel.

Morocco has gained one percentage point compared with 2025, rising from 11% to 12%, while the United States slipped to second place at 10%, down from 12%.

It added that the Montreal–Casablanca route was the single most booked international route from Quebec during the summer periods of 2025 and 2026.

The report also mentioned that an average round-trip on the route currently costs around $1,508 CAD, which is about $63 lower than last summer, despite a rise in demand.

It also highlighted “dense, concentrated demand instead of a spread across different Moroccan destinations,” saying that this reinforces the idea that cultural and community links are a key driver behind the trend.

According to the report, the rise is mainly linked to linguistic comfort for French-speaking Quebecers, with French widely used in business, government, and tourism services in Casablanca, which also serves as a gateway to the rest of Morocco.
