The 4th International Chemistry Forum opened in Rabat on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI and in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Organized by the Federation of Chemistry and Parachemistry, the two-day event is being held at the Marriott Hotel in Rabat under the theme “Chemistry at the Heart of Industrial Integration.”

The forum focuses on how Morocco’s chemical sector can strengthen local value chains and better connect strategic industries such as automotive, energy, mining, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and advanced materials.

This role is particularly significant given the sector’s economic weight. According to figures highlighted at the forum, Morocco’s chemical industry includes more than 1,600 companies, generates about 182 billion dirhams in revenue, accounts for 91 billion dirhams in exports, and has attracted around 48 billion dirhams in investment.

Speaking at the event, Omar Hejira, secretary of state in charge of foreign trade, described Morocco’s chemical industry as the country’s leading industrial export sector and a key driver of industrial sovereignty, innovation, and the energy transition. He said Morocco is moving in a “forward-looking dynamic” under the vision of King Mohammed VI, with industrial integration serving as a strategic lever for a more competitive, resilient, and inclusive economy.

Hejira also noted that nearly 85% of the sector’s activity remains concentrated in Casablanca-Settat and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, highlighting the need for broader regional industrial development.
