Moroccan Judicial Police in the city of Dakhla arrested a 22-year-old extremist affiliated with the ISIS terrorist group on Tuesday.
The successful operation was carried out based on precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), as part of ongoing efforts to neutralize imminent threats to the Kingdom’s security.
According to a statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was planning to execute dangerous terrorist plots targeting public order and citizen safety.
During the security operation, authorities seized electronic devices, various bladed weapons including machetes and knives, as well as paramilitary uniforms.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will be transferred to the BCIJ. Further judicial investigations will proceed under the supervision of the public prosecution in charge of terrorism cases to uncover his full extremist activities and potential links to other terror networks.
