Police in Casablanca arrested three individuals early Sunday on suspicion of involvement in violent clashes linked to football-related hooliganism, authorities said.
The suspects, aged between 19 and 24, were detained in the Moulay Rachid security district following reports that a group of individuals, believed to be affiliated with local football supporter factions, engaged in acts of violence involving bladed weapons and launching flares.
According to police, the incident was also captured in a video circulated on social media platforms, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Officers intervened to restore public order and apprehended three of the alleged participants shortly after the incident. Authorities said investigations remain ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals suspected of taking part in the clashes.
The suspects have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the full circumstances and motives behind the incident.
The case forms part of broader efforts by Moroccan security services to combat violence associated with football fandom and maintain public order.
