Wydad’s internal crisis reached a breaking point on May 3, when the club’s most influential ultra group, Winners 2005, publicly called on president Hicham Aït Menna and the entire managing board to resign immediately.
The pressure had been building for weeks. It first intensified on April 14, when club members launched legal steps to demand an independent financial audit. It deepened further on April 28 after supporters attacked Aït Menna following a goalless draw against Kawkab Marrakech. It finally reached its peak on May 3, when Wydad lost 1–0 to Renaissance Zemamra, extending its winless league run to six matches.
Later that same day, Wydad’s managing board announced it would submit its resignation at the upcoming ordinary elective general assembly, confirming the end of Aït Menna’s presidency under growing pressure from supporters, club members, and the team’s worsening results.
The board also set a timetable for the transition. Membership applications for the 2026/27 season will open from May 5 to June 5, while presidential candidacies will be accepted from June 5 to June 20, ahead of the elective assembly.
In their statement, the ultras accused Aït Menna of “managerial wrongdoing” and said Wydad needs leadership capable of bringing the club “back to safety.”
