King Mohammed VI has appointed Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan as coordinator of the offices and services of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, according to a statement from the Royal Cabinet.

The statement said the King “has been pleased to appoint His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan as Coordinator of the Offices and Services of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces,” placing the heir in a central role within the military command structure.

The Royal Cabinet recalled that Mohammed VI himself held the same position as Crown Prince from 1985, following his appointment by the late King Hassan II, establishing a precedent within the monarchy’s institutional framework.

The King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, made the appointment within what the statement described as the values guiding the military, including “competence and discipline, integrity and commitment, sincere patriotism, and a high sense of responsibility.”

It added that the armed forces remain “constantly attached and faithful to their eternal motto: God, the Homeland, the King.”
