Supporters’ groups of Raja Club Athletic known as “Curva Sud,” including the Eagles and Green Boys, issued a strongly worded statement Friday condemning what they described as “unfortunate events” during the team’s match in Rabat against AS FAR.
The groups blamed what they called poor organization and an “inappropriate security approach,” saying the incident raised serious questions about stadium readiness and Morocco’s ability to host major sporting events while ensuring proper conditions for domestic matches.
In their statement, the supporters said Raja fans experienced “significant hardship” upon arrival at the stadium, alleging what they described as arbitrary arrests and heavy-handed security interventions, as well as the confiscation of personal belongings.
They also criticized entry procedures, arguing that funneling thousands of supporters through limited access points led to overcrowding, panic and fainting incidents, which they said could have been avoided with better planning.
The groups further condemned what they described as increased security restrictions after the match, including additional detentions, and called for the release of those arrested.
They announced plans to organize a protest in solidarity with detained supporters and to denounce the treatment of fans, reaffirming their commitment to defending what they called the rights and dignity of supporters.
