Europe’s share of Morocco’s total foreign trade stood at 59.8% in 2025, down from 62% in 2024, according to the Foreign Exchange Office.

In its annual report on Morocco’s foreign trade, the Office said that 54.2% of the country’s imports originated in Europe, while 69.7% of its exports were destined for the continent.

Trade with Europe increased by 2.4% to 773.1 billion dirhams (MAD), the same source said, noting that European Union countries accounted for 85.8% of these exchanges.

Spain ranked as Morocco’s leading European trading partner, accounting for 27.5% of trade with the continent, followed by France (21.1%), Germany (8.9%), Türkiye (7.3%) and Italy (7.1%).

Morocco’s trade with Asia rose by 15.6% in 2025, extending the increase recorded in 2024. Asia’s share of the country’s total trade also grew, reaching 21.9%, up from 20.1% in 2024, at Europe’s expense.

This trend was mainly driven by increased trade with China, Morocco’s leading Asian trading partner, with bilateral trade rising by 25.1% for the 14th consecutive year of growth.

India and Bangladesh also contributed to the increase, with trade rising by 36% and 34.5%, respectively.

Trade with the Americas increased by 8%, mainly due to a 7.9% rise in trade with the United States. This growth was partly offset by declines in trade with Canada (-6.2%) and Brazil (-1.9%).

Meanwhile, trade with Africa rose by 6.1% in 2025, broadly in line with the levels recorded a year earlier. The increase was driven mainly by trade with South Africa (+73.2%), Tunisia (+32.5%) and Egypt (+9.4%), which remained Morocco’s leading African trading partner for the seventh consecutive year.

Trade with Oceania, which accounted for just 0.4% of Morocco’s total foreign trade, fell by 16% in 2025 following a sharp increase in 2024. The decline was mainly attributable to a decrease of MAD 1.6 billion in trade with Australia, partly offset by a MAD 0.7 billion increase in trade with New Zealand.
