Moroccan police have arrested a man wanted in connection with the killing of his wife after locating him hiding in a forest near the city of Youssoufia, local media reported Wednesday.
Judicial police officers in Youssoufia detained the suspect, who had been the subject of a nationwide search warrant for his alleged involvement in the crime in Chichaoua Province.
According to reports, the man fled to Youssoufia after the incident and initially sought refuge with family members. However, their refusal to shelter him prompted him to leave and hide in a nearby wooded area known as “Al Arouk.”
Authorities were able to pinpoint his location after his father alerted police, leading to his arrest in the forest.
The suspect was later handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie in Chichaoua, which is handling the investigation into the case.
Officials said further inquiries are underway to determine the circumstances and motives behind the killing.
