BLS International said it has strengthened operations at its Spain visa application centers in Morocco ahead of the peak travel season, increasing staffing and training in Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Tetouan, Nador and Agadir as demand for Schengen visas from Moroccans remains high.
BLS, the official partner for Spain visa applications in Morocco through those six centers, said the changes include additional experienced staff, fresh training focused on queue management and applicant support, and wider use of digital appointment, document tracking and biometric systems.
On its Morocco platform, BLS already warns applicants against intermediaries selling appointments and notes that some city slots are released weekly and can be exhausted quickly, a sign of sustained pressure on booking capacity.
Moroccan residents filed 606,800 Schengen short stay visa applications in 2024, up from 591,401 in 2023, making Morocco the world’s fourth largest source of Schengen applications after China, Turkey and India, according to the European Commission.
Globally, Schengen states received 11.7 million applications in 2024 and issued more than 9.7 million visas.
France remains the biggest single destination for Moroccan applicants. The French interior ministry said Morocco accounted for 32,546 long stay visas issued by France in 2025.
For Spain bound applicants in Morocco, BLS says standard processing for short stay visa files can take 15 to 60 days, with longer periods possible in some cases.
BLS says it works with more than 46 governments across more than 70 countries and operates a network of over 50,000 centres with a workforce of about 60,000.
