Morocco signed a series of agreements to expand cooperation in civil aviation and strengthen international partnerships during a global conference held in Marrakech, officials said Tuesday.

Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh held talks with several counterparts and international aviation officials on the sidelines of the fifth global implementation support conference for civil aviation.

Kayouh said discussions with Angolan Transport Minister Ricardo de Abreu focused on expanding bilateral air links. Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc, is studying the possibility of increasing flights between Luanda and Casablanca to up to three weekly services.

He added that the airline is also considering deploying new-generation aircraft expected to be delivered in the coming months. Plans are also underway to strengthen maritime connectivity between the two countries, notably through the future Dakhla Atlantic Port, which is expected to link Morocco with Angola.

In a separate meeting, Kayouh signed an agreement with the African Civil Aviation Commission to provide training for African air navigation technicians, aiming to enhance aviation safety across the continent.

Morocco also signed an air services agreement with Costa Rica granting third and fourth freedom traffic rights, allowing airlines from both countries to operate direct routes.

Talks were also held with Yemen’s transport minister Mohsen Ali Haidara Qassem, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation in aviation. Moroccan officials said they remain committed to implementing a previously signed agreement once conditions stabilize in Yemen.

Qassem said the agreement could pave the way for broader cooperation in ports, land transport and maritime sectors, noting Yemen’s need to rebuild its transport infrastructure after years of conflict.

He expressed confidence that the partnership with Morocco would yield positive results and thanked the kingdom for its continued support.
