Egypt on Monday reaffirmed its support for the territorial integrity of Morocco and backed a U.N.-led political solution to the Sahara dispute.
In a statement issued in Cairo, Egypt expressed support for United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 and endorsed a mutually agreed political settlement to the Sahara issue.
The resolution considers a genuine autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty as the most viable solution to the dispute.
The position was outlined in the minutes of the first session of the Moroccan-Egyptian Joint Coordination and Monitoring Committee, co-chaired by Aziz Akhannouch and Mostafa Madbouly.
