Spain leads Opta projections for 2026 World Cup

The Opta AI supercomputer has tipped Spain as the favorite to win the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to kick off on June 11 across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

According to a report by Marca, Spain leads the probability rankings with a 15.83% chance of lifting the trophy. France follows at 12.77%, while England sits third at 10.99%.

Defending champion Argentina national football team is ranked fourth with a 10.51% probability, in a result that stands out given the team’s recent World Cup triumph.

The projections also place Portugal, Brazil, Germany and the Netherlands among the top eight contenders to win the title.
