Arab interior ministers condemned Iranian attacks on Arab states at their 43rd council meeting on Wednesday, held by videoconference, while Morocco used the session to renew its support for targeted Arab countries and call for diplomatic solutions to avoid further escalation.
The council’s final declaration said the attacks amounted to a “flagrant violation” of sovereignty, a breach of international law and the U.N. Charter, and a serious threat to regional and international peace and security.
Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit said the kingdom, under King Mohammed VI, was following with deep concern the fast moving developments in the Middle East and the Iranian attacks directed at brotherly Arab states, according to a statement.
He said Morocco renewed its “firm and supportive position” toward Arab partners and rejected any action that could undermine their sovereignty or threaten their security and stability.
Laftit also said peaceful and diplomatic solutions remained “the best option” for handling regional crises and preventing wider confrontation, according to the same report.
That language broadly aligns with Morocco’s earlier official reaction on Feb. 28, when its foreign ministry condemned what it called an Iranian missile attack violating the integrity and security of Arab states.
The meeting also addressed broader shared security issues across the Arab world and adopted a series of decisions aimed at strengthening joint security action and coordination among Arab states.
