Attijariwafa Bank has warned the public and its customers about a rise in misleading content circulating on social media and messaging apps, including false claims exploiting the bank’s name, logo, and the identities of its executives.
In a statement Wednesday, April 1, the bank said these fraudulent posts often promote fake investment opportunities designed to mislead users and lure them into scams.
“Unauthorized use of the group’s trademarks and the identities of its executives constitutes a clear attack on the institution’s reputation,” the statement said, adding that the bank has no connection to these posts and does not operate any investment platforms.
The bank emphasized that its official communications are issued only through its verified channels. It noted that its CEO does not have any personal social media accounts, so any use of his name, photo, or identity on these platforms constitutes identity theft.
Attijariwafa Bank urged customers and the public to exercise caution, verify sources of information, rely only on official channels, and avoid sharing personal or banking data with unverified parties. Anyone with doubts is advised to contact the bank’s customer relations center at 05.22.58.88.88 or visit a local branch.
The bank also reserved the right to take legal action to protect its reputation, the image of its CEO, and its rights.
