Morocco will host the 4th edition of the [IN]VISIBLE Festival in 2027, an event that highlights little-known heritage by using artificial intelligence (AI) and digital tools to “shed light on the invisible figures of history.”
The announcement of the host country for the next edition of the festival, organized as part of the “XR4HERITAGE” program at the initiative of the Brussels-based association “3 PLUMES”, was made on Friday during the 2026 edition of the festival, held at the Royal Library of Belgium under the theme “enhancing heritage, archives, and collective narratives through immersive technologies and artificial intelligence.”
Since its launch in 2024, the [IN]VISIBLE Festival has positioned itself as a leading platform for co-creating memory-based experiences through AI and immersive technologies such as extended reality (XR) and immersive museography, with the aim of promoting innovation at the intersection of arts, archives, and human rights.
Speaking on this occasion, Morocco’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Mohamed Ameur, stressed that the theme of this edition “fully resonates with one of today’s major challenges: how to preserve, transmit, and make visible memories that are sometimes forgotten or marginalized.”
This reflection finds particular resonance in Morocco, a country of millennia-old civilization and a crossroads of cultures, deeply committed to safeguarding and promoting its heritage, whether tangible or intangible, the ambassador noted, adding that in the Kingdom, heritage “is not only about the memory of the past, but also serves as a lever for creativity, education, and development.”
In this context, he highlighted the significance of the announcement of the [IN]VISIBLE Festival Morocco 2027, stressing that it marks an important step in strengthening cooperation between Morocco and Belgium, particularly in promising fields such as immersive technologies, artificial intelligence, and cultural and creative industries.
“Morocco attaches particular importance to responsible and inclusive innovation, rooted in human realities. At a time when technologies are evolving rapidly, it is essential to ensure that they remain at the service of people, respect cultural identities, and reflect the diversity of narratives,” Ameur emphasized.
