J.D. Vance met Wednesday at the White House with Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber to discuss energy security and strategic ties between the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
During the meeting, Al Jaber conveyed greetings from the UAE leadership and reaffirmed Abu Dhabi’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across key sectors, including security, trade, investment, technology, energy, health care and education.

Al Jaber stressed that energy security remains a cornerstone of global stability, highlighting the importance of restoring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as “the only sustainable solution” to stabilizing global markets.
The talks come amid heightened tensions following the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, which has disrupted the flow of nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passing through the strategic waterway, contributing to volatility in global energy supplies.

In a series of meetings in Washington, Al Jaber also held discussions with U.S. senators on the evolving global energy landscape. He met separately with Claudio Descalzi, head of the Italian energy company Eni, to review regional developments, assess progress on joint projects and explore future opportunities.
Earlier this week, Al Jaber warned that any closure of the Strait of Hormuz would amount to “economic terrorism” with consequences extending far beyond energy markets, affecting industries, agriculture and households worldwide.
