Ajax Amsterdam prospect Rayane Bounida has been called up by Morocco’s national coach Mohamed Ouahbi to take part in the Atlas Lions’ two friendly matches against Ecuador in Madrid and Paraguay in Lens.
In a press release released Wednesday evening, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation said the call-up follows FIFA’s approval of Bounida’s change of sporting nationality, after previously representing Belgium’s youth teams.
The 20-year-old featured for Belgium at U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 levels before opting to represent Morocco at senior level.
The fixture against Ecuador is scheduled for March 27 at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in Madrid, while the clash against Paraguay will take place on March 31 at the Bollaert-Delelis Stadium in Lens.
The Moroccan national team arrived in Madrid on Wednesday for its first face off.
Prior to their arrival in the Spanish capital, the Atlas Lions held two training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.
